Piano Mover Great Neck
Great Neck, New York is commonly applied to a peninsula on the North Shore of Long Island in Nassau County.  It includes the Village of Great Neck, the Village of Great Neck Estates, the Village of Great Neck Plaza, and others, as well as an area south of the peninsula near Lake Success, NY 11020.

The Village of Great Neck, NY 11020 was incorporated in 1922 and is located near the north end of the Great Neck Peninsula and is bounded by the Village of Kings Point to the north, Great Neck Estates on the southwest, the town of North Hempstead on the southeast and west and by Manhasset Bay on the east.

When old-time residents said “the village” or “the Upper Village”  they didn’t mean today’s entire Village of Great Neck, but a small section along Middle Neck Road, clustering mostly between Hicks Lane and Beach Road.  Like the rest of Great Neck, the Village was almost exclusively farm and orchard from its settlement in the 1660’s into the 19th century.  In the 19th century, it became a small center of commerce for all of Great Neck, either selling to farmers, or servicing farmer’s needs.

As everyone who lives in Great Neck knows, F. Scott Fitzgerald lived in Great Neck, at Six Gateway Drive in Great Neck Estates — probably the Great Neck’s greatest claim to fame. He lived here in the 1920s, in a modest house, similar to that of Nick, the protagonist of his novel, The Great Gatsby. It is said that Fitzgerald modeled West Egg — the fictional town in which Nick lives, next to the mansion of Jay Gatsby, the epitome of Nouveau Riche gaudiness — after his own Great Neck and the atmosphere and lifestyle there; and he modeled East Egg, the town where Daisy and Tom live, after Great Neck’s eastern neighbor, Port Washington or, more specifically, Sands Point.
